Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection brings the franchise's arcade origins back into focus with a curated package built by Digital Eclipse. You get the classic arcade entries that defined the series, a hand-picked set of home conversions, and rare releases that have been hard to find in one place. The interactive documentary layer adds interviews, concept art, and archival footage, so the collection works both as a playable archive and as a story about how digitized fighters changed the conversation around video games in the early '90s.
This page covers the eShop NSP release plus the Update 1.0.4 package. The base game is a 9.9 GB download, and the update installs on top of it. If you are comparing this to other retro compilations on the system, the Simogo Legacy Collection Switch NSP + Update (eShop) follows a similar preservation-first approach, but Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection leans much harder into fighting-game history and multiplayer.

What You Get in the Kollection
The package is organized around the arcade era. You can jump into the original arcade versions that launched the franchise, then move through a selection of home ports that many players remember from their own consoles. Digital Eclipse has built a reputation for treating source material carefully, and the structure here reflects that: each title is presented with context rather than dropped into a bare menu. The interactive documentary format is the differentiator. You hear directly from Ed Boon, John Tobias, John Vogel, and Dan Forden, and the package includes exclusive interviews, rare concept art, vintage marketing materials, and archival video footage.
For players who care about how the games actually feel, the arcade originals are the centerpiece. The digitized-human sprite work that shocked critics in 1992 is still the visual signature of the collection, and the over-the-top martial-arts action holds up as a multiplayer experience. The home versions add variety, and the rare releases give completionists something to explore beyond the well-known entries.
Key Features
- Arcade classics from the franchise's origins, presented with historical context.
- Curated home versions and rare fan-favorite releases in one package.
- Interactive documentary content with interviews from the original dev team.
- Rare concept art, vintage marketing materials, and archival video footage.
- Multiplayer fighting action across the included titles.
- Six supported languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and Italian.
- Update 1.0.4 (v262144) package included alongside the base game.
Who This Is For
This collection suits three groups. First, longtime fans who want the arcade originals in a modern package without hunting down individual re-releases. Second, players interested in game history who want the documentary material and archival extras alongside the games themselves. Third, multiplayer groups looking for a fighting-game night that does not require learning a modern combo system. If you mainly want a single modern fighter with current-generation mechanics, this is a preservation-focused package rather than a new entry in the series.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: Strong historical curation; documentary interviews with the original team; arcade originals plus home and rare versions; multiplayer support; six-language localization; update package included.
- Cons: The 9.9 GB base download is large for a retro collection; the appeal depends on interest in older fighting mechanics; the documentary format is a bonus rather than the main draw for players who only want to fight.

Version Freshness and Trust Signals
The listing reflects the 2025-10-30 release date with the Update 1.0.4 (v262144) package attached. Digital Eclipse is the publisher behind the collection, and the documentary content is built around direct participation from the original development team, which is a meaningful signal that the package is an official-style preservation effort rather than a loose ROM bundle. The title ID (01005E902232A000) and the language set are listed above so you can verify the package matches your region and language needs before downloading.
On installation, keep the base game and update as separate steps. Install the base NSP first, then apply Update 1.0.4 on top. The 9.9 GB base size means you should confirm free storage before starting, and the update should be installed to the same storage location as the base game. If a mirror link is broken or missing, report it in the comments so the listing can be corrected.

Final Thoughts
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a preservation package first and a fighting game second. The 9.9 GB base download and the separate Update 1.0.4 package are the practical details to plan around.
