Trainee Death Simulator

Debt collection takes on a grimly comic edge when the collector is an underqualified reaper who can die as often as their targets. Trainee Death Simulator is an indie, choice-driven RPG set around a failing afterlife bureaucracy, where a vanished ruler leaves the Death Tower short on power and recruits a disposable workforce of novice Deaths. Your assignment is simple in theory—harvest souls and reduce an impossible debt—but the road is full of bad decisions, supernatural accidents, and worlds that seem eager to kill you first. The tone balances bleak lore with playful fatalism: every disaster stings, but every death is also another chance to see what happens if you choose differently.

Most of the action unfolds through randomized narrative encounters that ask you to make calls under pressure. Decisions reshape key traits such as faith, energy, strength, and evil, which in turn influence later scenes, available responses, and your odds of escaping trouble in places like haunted forests, dream realms, or the Tower itself. Running out of luck does not end the run permanently; revival and repetition encourage experimentation, whether that means working alongside a senior reaper for extra souls or wasting the day in bed because the debt feels unwinnable. Objectives within events unlock clothing, letting you alter your apprentice’s appearance, while star-given Oracles supply unpredictable blessings and curses that can rescue a doomed run or make it considerably stranger.

What separates Trainee Death Simulator from a straightforward visual-novel RPG is its looping structure and its willingness to make failure part of the story rather than a hard stop. The setting also folds historical death events into its supernatural mythology, suggesting that infamous tragedies may have had unseen reapers nearby. Players who enjoy branching-choice games, roguelite repetition, and offbeat dark fantasy will find the strongest appeal here, especially if they like the consequence-heavy storytelling of Reigns or the replay-minded event design of indie life simulators.
